Visa Transfer
VISA IN A CANCELED OR INVALID PASSPORT
Foreign nationals are allowed to cross the Russian border only with a valid national passport and a valid Russian visa therein. A foreign national will be denied entry to the Russian Federation with a valid Russian visa stamped in an invalid (cancelled, expired, etc.) national passport.
If you get a new passport you are required to transfer the valid Russian visa in an invalid passport to the new one or apply for a new visa. Visas in damaged passport must also be transferred to the new passport before you travel.
VISA TRANSFER
Unexpired Russian visas in cancelled/expired passports can be transferred to a new passport. In this case the type of visa, validity period and permitted period of stay will remain unchanged.
The procedure to apply for a visa transfer is the same as for a new visa.
Please present the original of your cancelled passport instead of an invitation. In case the passport is lost, please provide a police document reporting a lost passport.
