A piano concert in Kolkata

On the occasion of the Diplomats' Day on the 10th of February 2019 the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata in collaboration with the Indian Museum organised a piano concert of renowned Russian pianist Irina Shkurindina. The gala performance took place in the Courtyard of the 205-year-old  Museum building known for its remarkable acoustic characteristics.

Irina's repertoire included pieces by world-famous composers – Sergey Rachmaninoff, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Frédéric Chopin, George Gershwin. The delighted audience praised her with long and powerful applause. The concert was attended by Kolkata's elite – artistic intelligentsia, consular corps, politicians, entrepreneurs, journalists, students of music schools, compatriots.

Introducing the artist who was born in India in a diplomat family the Consul General of Russia in Kolkata Mr Alexey Idamkin emphasized the significance of a cultural component of the long-standing friendship and mutual affinity binding our two nations together.

The musical evening was widely covered by West Bengal printed and online press. It has also elicited a highly positive response on social media.
