Conference in Kolkata on Information and Communication Technologies and Cybersecurity

On September 5, 2018 the “CYBERCON 2018” conference on information and communication technologies (ICT) and cybersecurity was organized by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM).<br />
<br />
The event, dedicated to the development of cooperation in the field of ICT and information security, was attended by Consul General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata Mr Alexey Idamkin, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Mr Toufique Hasan, Consul General of Nepal Mr Eaknarayan Aryal, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology Division, Government of Bangladesh Mr Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Minister in Charge of IT & Electronics Department, Government of West Bengal Mr Bratya Basu, police officers from India, Nepal and Bhutan specializing on combating cyber crime, representatives of the public and private sectors of the computer and banking industries from South Asia.<br />

Russia was represented by a delegate from Saint Petersburg Mr Vadim Kokotkov, vice-president of the "Bee Pitron" company and an initiator of establishing an IT-hub in India on behalf of the RUSSOFT (a non-profit association of the most technically competent software developing companies from Russia).<br />
<br />
At the conference delegates exchanged views on the development of the ICT industry. They discussed information security challenges faced by the governments, citizens and businesses. The participants deliberated on the exchange of national experience in creating public-private partnerships, arranging the protection of critical infrastructure from hostile attacks, adopting cutting-edge technologies including Artificial Intelligence, digital education capacity building, etc.<br />

Mr Alexey Idamkin underlined that Russia stands for the maintenance of peace in the information space and strongly believes that a just and equitable world order that would accommodate the interests of all countries irrespectively of their technological capacities should be ensured in this area.
