New Life Brass quintet from Russia performed in Kolkata
Classical quintet of brass instruments New Life Brass named after Timofey Dokshitzer from Russia performed on the stage of the Bhasha Bhavan Auditorium of the National Library in Kolkata on November 15, 2018. The concert was organized within the framework of the “Days of Russian Culture in India 2018” in collaboration between the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) with support of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in New Delhi and the Consulate General of the Russia in Kolkata.<br />

Consul General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata Mr Alexey Idamkin and Regional Director of the ICCR in Kolkata Mr Gautam De took part in the inaugural ceremony.<br />

The concert program embraced popular classical, jazz and pop pieces with elements of stage performances, including Rondo alla Turca by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Libertango by Astor Piazzolla, Amazing Grace by Luther Henderson and Sabre Dance by Aram Khachaturian, and received enthusiastic response of the audience. The performance became a vivid and memorable event in the cultural life of Kolkata.<br />

The concert was attended by representatives of local political, intellectual and artistic circles, diplomats from the consular corps of Kolkata, compatriots and media.<br />

The New Life Brass named after Timofey Dokshitzer was established in 2009 by a group of professional musicians – graduates of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. The band successfully performs at Moscow venues, tours around the country and abroad.
