On Inauguration of the Exhibition Dedicated to Vasiliy Vereshchagin
On National Unity Day, November 4th, 2022, Russian House in Kolkata inaugurated the art exhibition dedicated to the 180th birth anniversary of the Russian painter Vasily V. Vereshchagin.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata - senior consul Mr. Maxim Aleshin and attaché Ms. Ekaterina Lazareva, head of the Russian House in Kolkata, Sergey Shushin and former president of the Asiatic Society, Dr. Pallab Sengupta.
The visitors were presented with reproductions of paintings by Vasily Vereshchagin and works by contemporary Indian artists. The artist is familiar to the Indian public, his largest work "The Elephant Procession: The Prince of Wales Visiting Jaipur on February 4, 1876" became available to visitors of the Victoria Memorial, Kolkata 2 years ago, after 20 years of restoration.
The exhibition will continue until November 11, opening hours - from 3 to 7 p.m.
