Russian Consulate General in Kolkata Celebrates National Day 2025

On June 11, The Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata marked the occasion of Russia's National Day with a grand state reception held at the Taj Bengal Hotel at the very heart of Kolkata. In his welcome address Mr. Maxim Kozlov, Russian Consul General in Kolkata, welcomed the guests and extended heartfelt National Day greetings. He highlighted the day’s significance for Russia's sovereignty and emphasized the strong historical ties and multifaceted cooperation between Russia and India.  

The celebration was graced by Mr. Anoop Kumar Agrawal, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Technical Education, Training & Skill Development Department & Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Information Technology & Electronics, Government of West Bengal, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Agrawal expressed his appreciation for the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations and reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations. 

The event witnessed over 200 guests, including government officials, the heads and staff of the Consulates General of China, Myanmar, Bhutan, Nepal, Thailand, Deputy High Commission for Bangladesh, Honorary Consuls, business leaders, cultural figures, academics, media circles, representatives of Russian community.  

Following the protocol part of the program, guests enjoyed an immersive cultural experience, including Russian culinary delights such as Medovik cake, Chak Chak and souvenir chocolates. Videos depicting the rich tapestry of Russian diverse traditions and breathtaking beauty of its tourist destinations were also showcased. A specially curated photo exhibition, organized with the support of Russian House in Kolkata (Gorky Sadan), also adorned the venue. 

The atmosphere resonated with warmth and mutual respect, reflecting the strong people-to-people connections between Russia and India. The event concluded on a high note, leaving guests with a memorable impression of Russian culture and a reaffirmation of the robust bilateral partnership.
