Russian Cuisine Evening Celebrated in Kolkata

On January 20th, 2024 the Russian House in Kolkata hosted an Evening of Russian Cuisine organized by the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata. This event annually attracts a large number of residents of India's cultural capital who want to taste traditional Russian delicacies. This year visitors could relish the following dishes: chicken pelmeni, blinis with salmon, pirozhki with cabbage and potato, vinegret salad, «russian» salad, profiteroles with mushrooms and profiteroles with cream as a dessert. During the event, employees of the Consulate General spoke about the history of Russian cuisine, which has been formed over many centuries and is considered one of the most colourful in the world, as well as recipes for preparing the presented dishes. The guests noted that through culinary events it is possible to tell both about traditions and history of Russia, about its cultural and national diversity - all peoples of our country have their traditional dishes and recipes. During the event, visitors could take photos wearing elements of Russian costume and against the background of a Russian izba (traditional Russian countryside wooden house).
