Russian pavilion was inaugurated at the 42th International Kolkata Book Fair

The Russian pavilion named "Russian Books" organized by the JSC "General Directorate of International Book Exhibitions and Fairs" with support of the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata and Russian Center of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Kolkata was solemnly inaugurated on January 31, 2018 within the framework of the 42th International Kolkata Book Fair, which is held at the Kolkata exhibition center "Mela Ground".

Consul General of the Russian Federation in Kolkata Mr Alexey Idamkin, Representative of the JSC "General Directorate of International Book Exhibitions and Fairs" Ms Alyona Novokshonova, General Secretary of the Publishers and Booksellers Guild Mr Tridib Chatterjee, Director of "Sarat Book House Pvt. Ltd." Mr Milinda De, representatives of local intellectual circles and media, Russian compatriots took part in the opening ceremony of the Russian pavilion.

The exhibition includes collections of poetry and prose of contemporary Russian authors, art books, encyclopedic and historical literature and also children's books. The new editions of books of the leading Russian publishing houses including "AST", "Eksmo", "Molodaya Gvardiya", etc. were presented at the IKBF.

The International Kolkata Book Fair is an annual event for publishers and bibliophiles organized under the sponsorship of the Government of West Bengal. The number of the exhibited publications brings it to the third place in the world after London and Frankfurt book fairs. It attracts more than 3 million visitors.

The International Kolkata Book Fair will be open till February 11, 2018.
